Moin Younis

Moin has defied medical opinion throughout his life, since the moment his parents were told he would not live beyond his first birthday. The life-limiting condition means he lacks the protein needed to bind the layers of his skin together, so it tears and blisters at the slightest touch.

Each day Moin spends over an hour soaking his bandages in the bath so they can be removed before fresh bandages are applied – a painful process that sometimes takes up to five hours.

Now 21, defying the odds and despite his many challenges, Moin is committed to making a difference to the lives of others. In his role as Ambassador at Acorns, he has a real say in ways the charity can improve its services He has won Pride of Birmingham and went on to then win Pride of Britain. In a moving speech that had the audience on its feet he said: “A lot of people take life for granted. While I am here, I want to get the message out to people to enjoy life. Please, please get the most out of your life and make the most of what you have.” His podcast reflects his attitude and is called “Live to inspire”.
