Jane is a former teacher turned parenting coach. Having spent 27 years in secondary education, and gaining an MA in Education from the University of Birmingham, she now works with families and schools across the West Midlands, specialising in parent-teen connection and emotional regulation.
During her teaching career she witnessed a gradual but significant decline in teen wellbeing, with increasing anxiety, comparison culture and emotional disconnection. The devastating loss of her 19-year-old son Leo to suicide in 2023, whose inquest identified anhedonia as a significant factor, led her to research the neurological impact of constant digital stimulation on adolescent brains.
She now advocates for greater awareness of digital anhedonia. She is passionate about bringing it into the wider conversation about teen mental health, and has contributed to articles for Metro, The Independent and the charity Young Minds on the subject. She aims to give parents of teens the tools and understanding to build connection and improve communication.
